Today is the worst time of jet lags, I have not sleep for 28 hours already. I would like to share you the story of robotics and I. My story about robotics is something I really wish you to know about, it is not only about how I develop my talent in robotics but also how much effort that I have and would like to to put into this field. Robotics has been introduced to my life when I was in 3rd grade, I have been through all kinds of robotics competition with all kinds of team. And I was also involved to start two different robotics team in two different school. The first robotics team I have ever started with my friend was in my middle school. as a brand new team, we have worked as hard as possible for the achievements which was basically impossible for us, however, the effort that we put into the team had helped us to take a great turn for worse. As result, we won the FLL champion of Both Haidian district and Beijing city. And I learned a lesson which is even more important than the winning, hardworking eventually will help you achieve as much as you aspire. A year ago, I started a compatible robotics team in Fork Union Military Academy going for the FTC competition. First Technology Challenge is a event that need a lot of time and effort form every individual on the team. FUMA is military system adopted school which has extremely strict time schedule for every cadet on campus, it is barely possible to put in a robotics practice time between sports and school. For the whole entire season of our first year, people that are really working in the robotics team everyday was only me, myself and I. I suddenly realized that the only way to promote the robotics program in FUMA is to make decent achievements to show cadets that FUMA robotics is not a waste of their time. As I mentioned before, FTC is a competition that require effort from every individual on the team, therefore, the difficulty for the “team” has only one person is obviously much harder. However, at that point, I firmly believe that if I can put in the equal amount of effort from ten people, then I can finish the job that needs ten people. Therefore, I took out most of my free time during the week days, my weekend and dinner time for robotics, I was in charge of every single thing in the team. My team finished 20th out of 28 teams in Virginia central qualifier in the first year, which was not so bad for a brand new team who has very limited fund, practice time and members. Even though, I still believe that we had the potential to do better that year. I did prove my quote that I mentioned before about how one man can finish ten man’s work by finishing the competition with most of my own work, but I also learned something even more important which is that team work will always be the key to achieve.
